Message of the story.

“Good Advice Is Rarer Than Rubies” is about a woman, who don't want to be in an arranged marriage. I think the message of the story is that the maybe most Indians don't want to be in an arranged marriage, and that they rather want to choose the person they are going to marry themselves. Even if its tradition I don't see why the parents should have the right to decide who their children marries. In a modern society people should have the right to decide whom they marries, even if it brakes with old traditions. It is important to sometimes set your own well being in front of others. She decided to stay and continue her life in India, and maybe one day find a husband herself.
